The form you file via ELSTER when you start self-employment, so the tax office can register you.

It asks about your activity, expected income and turnover, VAT choices and bank details. Your estimates determine your prepayments, so be realistic.

After processing you receive a Steuernummer and, if requested, a VAT ID.
